Invisalign in Richmond at Kew Road Dental offers a discreet and modern way to straighten your teeth without metal braces.

We provide Invisalign treatment for patients in Richmond, Kew, East Sheen and surrounding areas looking for a confident, straighter smile.

What is Invisalign

Invisalign is a modern teeth straightening treatment that uses a series of clear, removable aligners to gradually move your teeth into a healthier, more aligned position. At Kew Road Dental in Richmond, we use Invisalign to help patients achieve a straighter smile without the need for traditional metal braces.

Invisalign is suitable for adults and teenagers who want to correct issues such as crooked teeth, gaps, overcrowding or mild bite problems. The treatment is planned using advanced digital scanning technology, allowing you to see a preview of your new smile before treatment begins.

Unlike fixed braces, Invisalign aligners are virtually invisible and can be removed when eating, drinking, brushing and flossing. This makes them a more comfortable and convenient option for many patients looking for discreet teeth straightening in Richmond.

How Invisalign works

Invisalign treatment at Kew Road Dental in Richmond begins with a detailed digital scan of your teeth. This replaces the need for messy impressions and allows us to create a precise 3D model of your smile.

Using this digital scan, a series of custom-made clear aligners are designed specifically for your teeth. Each set of aligners is carefully planned to move your teeth gradually and safely into their ideal position.

You will wear each set of aligners for around one to two weeks before moving on to the next set. Each new aligner gently continues the movement of your teeth throughout your treatment plan.

Regular progress checks are carried out at Kew Road Dental in Richmond to ensure your treatment is progressing as planned. These appointments also allow us to make any adjustments if needed and ensure the best possible results.

Do I need to see a specialist Orthodontist?

Yes, Invisalign treatment typically requires the expertise of a specialist orthodontist who is trained and certified in using the Invisalign system.

Orthodontists are dental professionals who specialize in the diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of dental and facial irregularities, including the alignment of teeth and jaws.

While general dentists may be able to offer Invisalign treatment, it is generally recommended to seek the services of a specialist orthodontist for this type of treatment.

Orthodontists have additional training and experience in treating complex cases and can provide more customized treatment plans to ensure optimal results.

However, Invisalign braces can also be provided by our highly experienced Specialist Orthodontist Dr Philippa Rudge who has 20 years experience as an orthodontist

The Invisalign process explained

If you have crooked teeth, overcrowded teeth, over bites, under bites or cross bites, our dentist will examine your smile first to make sure your misalignments are eligible for the Invisalign treatment.

The main steps in your Invisalign treatment are below:

1. Once your initial consultation has confirmed Invisalign can work for your desired smile, we will discuss the whole process with you including costs, before taking photos, X-rays and digital scans of your teeth.

2. Invisalign involves creating a series of custom-made clear braces (aligners) specifically for your case.

3. Approximately every one to two weeks new aligners will be fitted, applying the necessary pressure to ease your teeth into the desired position.

4. Each case is different, so the number of aligners may vary as well as the length of time treatment will be required for.

5. Your invisible baligners can be removed so you can eat and brush your teeth but our dentist will advise you to wear them at least 22 hours each day.

How does Invisalign compare to braces

Invisalign is an advanced solution for both teenagers and adults to align crooked teeth with braces that are almost invisible when you talk or smile.

Invisalign is often referred to as invisible braces or aligners. They use clear plastic aligners which gently move your teeth into the correct position.

As well as being virtually undetectable, Invisalign braces are removable, enabling you to take them out when you eat, drink or clean your teeth.

This makes them very popular for patients who are conscious about wearing fixed braces for a long time.

Who Is Invisalign Suitable For?

Invisalign may be suitable if you have:

• Crooked teeth

• Gaps between teeth

• Crowded teeth

• Mild to moderate bite issues

• Previously straightened teeth that have moved

During your consultation, we will assess your smile and determine whether Invisalign is the most suitable treatment for your needs.

Does Invisalign work?

Invisalign boasts millions of positive reviews around the world, but success is determined by the professional diagnosis and treatment plan, the cooperation of the patient to wear the clear braces as much as possible and how the patient’s teeth respond to the treatment.

Your teeth will be assessed at each stage and at the end of your treatment plan, retainers will be provided to help you maintain your new smile.

The benefits of Invisalign over traditional braces

  •  They are a more comfortable

  •  Less intrusive

  •  Traditional braces have visible brackets and wires whilst Invisalign is extremely discreet and virtually impossible to see

  •  This helps patients who are conscious about wearing fixed braces with the confidence to smile and socialise normally

  •  Certain foods do not have to be avoided as Invisalign braces can be removed at anytime enabling patients to clean, brush and floss whenever they need to
